Switzerland, Lucerne - The Swiss Transport Museum

The Verkehrshaus Museum in Lucerne (Luzern) Switzerland, is the main transport museum in the country and has about twenty complete aircraft, and a number of components, on display at any one time. These include the country’s first successful aircraft, the Dufaux 4, which is shown as an uncovered airframe, through to a Pilatus PC-9A, a most successful turboprop training aircraft which appears to be trying to escape through the roof.
The museum, which opened on 1 July 1959, is a group of buildings covering 20,000 square meters. It contains vehicles, trains, ships as well as communications and space and devices, which have contributed to the development of transport and communications in Switzerland. It gets around 1 million visitors a year and is one of the country’s most popular attractions.
